MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - More than 50 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties are under an air quality alert Monday. It’s in effect until 11 p.m. for about the southern two-thirds of the state. The DNR says the area will have larger than normal levels of fine particle pollution caused by things like power plants and vehicle exhausts. And officials say the air is unhealthy for kids, seniors, and those with heart and lung diseases. The DNR encourages those folks to stop or re-schedule strenuous activities during the alert period. The National Weather Service says low clouds will hang over much of southern and west central Wisconsin all day.
